Welcome to the londongeek wiki.
Many years ago I set up this wiki in order to capture an informal history of the dotcom period in London as seen through the eyes of the geeks who worked on it.
Unfortunately, the wiki software that I was using wasn't really up to the task and I was forced to close it down. I always had vague plans to resurrect it later using better wiki software, but time passed (rather a lot of time passed) and nothing happened.
A year or so ago, I decided to spend some time looking at the problem. But I found that I not longer had all of the previous content. It had been lost during an earlier server move. I'd sorry that I treated so many people's contributions with such a cavalier attitude and you can rest assured that I've learned a valuable lesson about backups.
Another year passed and I didn't do anything about the wiki - largely because I didn't know what I could do. But a couple of days ago I got an email asking what had happened to the site and pointing out that the Internet Archive had a pretty comprehensive record of the last live version of the data.
So I've been galvanised into action. I've installed MediaWiki on the site. But I still don't have very much time to put into the site. But it might be an interesting project for someone - pulling the content out of the Wayback Machine and converting it into MediaWiki format.
